Prayers/Davening

Throughout the year in Hebrew School students will master different prayers sung in the traditional Hebrew tunes with the help of a Siddur/Prayer Book. Some famous tunes are Modeh Ani, Mah Tovu, Adon Olam, Shema, Ein Kelokainu, Aleinu, Shabbat & Holiday Prayers. Classical Jewish and Hebrew Songs will be sung throughout the day as well.

Holiday Learning

Students will prepare and learn the customs and meaning of the Jewish Holidays through crafts, songs, and holiday workshops! This year, your child will proudly explain the how and why as they observe and lead your home in the various holiday observances.

Aleph Champ/Hebrew Reading Program

The Aleph Champ program is based on the motivational philosophy of Martial Arts. Children work their way up this 10-step reading program, beginning as a 'white reader' and ending as a 'black reader' earning medals and prizes along the way. This program provides excitement and inspiration leading the child into a winning cycle of learning until they eventually become a master reader! Reviewing at home during the week is key to success in this program! Read more about Aleph Champ here.

Judaic Knowledge Program

Every year our Judaic Knowledge program focuses on a different subject.

This year, the subject title is Light House: Making My Home Hashem's Home. It is an innovative new curriculum which explores the mitzvot we do in our daily lives.

(In other years, the Judaic Knowledge Program includes: Everyday Jewish customs, the Biblical history of our forefathers and foremothers and the lessons they left us, the Biblical history of the Exodus from Egypt and the giving of the Torah, and the story of our ancients roots in Israel, the Holy Land.)

Light House: Making My Home Hashem's Home

Throughout the year, students will explore how we can make Hashem (G‑d) feel welcome in our world, through the mitzvot we do in our daily lives. Inspired by the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, each lesson centers on ways to make our homes a place where Hashem is known. Topics include celebrating Shabbat, making blessings, honoring parents, giving charity, and much more. And of course, each lesson includes hands-on STEM activities that will keep the kids excited and engaged at every step!

We can’t wait to see this new curriculum empower another year of proud Jewish kids!

Wait, there's more!

In addition to all of the items above, each class has additional small subjects, such as Alef-Bet projects in the younger grades, understanding the meaning of the prayers in the older grades, and more. In addition, for our oldest students, we incorporate a special Bar/Bat Mitzvah prep element. Lastly, students at Hebrew School of the Arts can participate in JewQ - the international contest of Jewish Knowledge! In some of our grades, we actively cover the JewQ subjects, and some are optional for students to achieve at home!
